Role Summary

The Officer of Community Initiatives plays a crucial role in advancing the Community Interest Sphere's strategy by engaging with communities in various operational aspects. This position involves evaluating contribution requests, overseeing these requests, collaborating with community partners, and delivering comprehensive administrative support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Community Interest Sphere programs, ensuring effective communication and implementation of the new strategy while being attuned to equity groups.
  • Coordinate administrative functions for the contributions process, providing assistance in receiving, assessing, and tracking contribution requests.
  • Engage with community partners, representing the Foundation's mission, values, strategies, and commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • Demonstrate functional bilingualism with strong oral and written communication skills in English or French.
  • Possess experience and insight into nonprofit organizations and initiatives that serve communities.
  • Have three to four years of experience in program administration and support.
  • Hold a post-secondary diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Adhere to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility frameworks and practices.
  • Be willing and able to travel as required.

  • Understanding of foundation interest spheres and philanthropy trends in Canada.
  • Experience in group facilitation and coordination.
  • Knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, and learning frameworks.
