Maintenance Worker Job Summary

M'akola Housing Society is seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker to join our team at Ts'i'ts'uwatul Lelum Assisted Living facility in Duncan, BC. As a Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for maintaining the overall upkeep of the facility and its grounds, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for our residents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including repairs, replacements, and preventative maintenance
  • Carry out move-in and move-out tasks to prepare suites for new residents
  • Complete work orders in a timely fashion, including basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks
  • Maintain and sanitize the garbage, recycling, and compost room
  • Mop and buff hardwood floors in the dining room
  • Maintain the grounds and landscaping
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all documentation assigned or required in the course of duties
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years maintenance experience
  • Proven ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and deal with residents in a respectful and patient manner
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs regularly and 100lbs occasionally
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of a maintenance training program
  • Experience working with Elders, seniors, and persons with disabilities in congregate/assisted living settings
  • Experience working in and with Indigenous communities
What We Offer:
  • A competitive hourly rate of $27.10
  • A full-time, temporary position for a one-year term with the possibility of extension
  • A 37.5 hour workweek, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
