Your Role:
The Stroke and Brain Injury Support Team, along with the Medicine Hat Home Rehabilitation Team, is in search of a dedicated and skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to become a vital part of our collaborative, multidisciplinary teams. This position is ideal for an individual who thrives in supporting clients and their families throughout their rehabilitation process, is eager to acquire new competencies, and is capable of delivering education and assistance in both home and community settings.
Position Overview:
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will deliver a comprehensive range of nursing services to patients, families, and communities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. Your responsibilities will include employing nursing methodologies, utilizing critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, as well as providing education, counseling, and advocacy for patients and their families. You will take on a leadership role in promoting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance.
Your commitment to providing safe, high-quality, patient-centered care will reflect the core values and vision of Alberta Health Services.
Essential Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
- If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five years, completion of specific required courses is necessary.
Additional Qualifications:
Prior experience in homecare nursing is essential. A strong understanding of the medical aspects of stroke and brain injury, along with the ability to effectively communicate and educate clients and their families regarding the management of these conditions, is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with documentation systems and collaboration with Allied Health professionals in a multidisciplinary environment is advantageous. Familiarity with rehabilitation nursing practices is highly beneficial, as is a willingness to learn rehabilitative treatment strategies in both home and community settings.
