This role is situated within the Renewable Energy market sector of the Power Division, focusing on projects related to wind, solar, and battery storage. We partner with both public and private sector clients on groundbreaking initiatives that enable our team members to showcase their expertise while mentoring the next generation of passionate professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work alongside WSP field personnel and the WindServerTM team to devise meteorological deployment strategies.
- Conduct analysis of meteorological and production data utilizing proprietary scripts and software tools.
- Implement wind flow modeling through various methodologies (e.g., CFD, Meso-scale).
- Configure and execute wind resource assessments.
- Evaluate facility performance based on technological and climatic factors.
- Calculate uncertainty bounds via statistical analysis of measurements and models.
- Assess renewable energy technologies for optimal economic viability.
- Analyze the performance of operational wind farms.
- Perform shadow flicker and noise emission assessments.
- Optimize turbine selection and layout to minimize energy costs and project risks.
- Conduct climate suitability evaluations for turbine load and longevity calculations.
- Organize and document geospatial data, generating maps and performing calculations using GIS software.
- Engage in research and process development aimed at enhancing energy assessment methodologies and product offerings.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in the wind energy sector or meteorology.
- A completed undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, meteorology, mathematics, statistics, or a related technical field.
- Familiarity with programming languages, particularly Matlab and Python, is advantageous.
- Experience in evaluating and interpreting meteorological phenomena is a plus.
- Proficiency in wind flow modeling software, such as Meteodyn, is desirable.
- A pragmatic, solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
- A commitment to enhancing workflow processes while balancing standardization with efficiency and quality improvements.
- A strong professional work ethic.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective client and team collaboration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, OneNote).
- The ability to independently manage work schedules and effectively oversee individual responsibilities and projects with prompt turnaround times.
