Job Summary:
The Gathering Place is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian - Relief to join our team. As a Custodian - Relief, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, sanitized, and healthy environment for our Guests, Staff, and Volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cleaning and Sanitizing: Clean and sanitize areas according to assigned schedules using appropriate cleaning and sanitation methods and procedures, with minimal supervision.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and safe storage of equipment, report defective and damaged equipment and furnishings, and keep work area in an orderly, safe, and clean condition.
- Supply Management: Replenish supplies throughout the building and keep inventory in order on individual carts.
- Chemical Handling: Understand the use and application of cleaning chemicals.
- Guest Interaction: Fulfill duties and responsibilities of the position with a pleasant demeanor, maintaining clear and consistent boundaries with Guests.
- Flexibility: Flexibility in working hours – MUST be able to work weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holiday coverage when required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- WHIMIS Training: WHIMIS Training would be an asset.
- Knowledge and Skills: Display knowledge related to the use of hazardous products, infection control, cleaning practices, housekeeping operations, and equipment usage.
- Time Management: Ability to conduct tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
- Organizational Skills: Trustworthy, dependable, with strong organizational skills and a proven ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Teamwork: Flexibility to work with team members or individually.
- Criminal Record Check: All applicants MUST be able to provide a current Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Criminal Record Screening Certificate and Vulnerable Sector Check.
