Job Summary

Fraser Health is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Ethicist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert guidance on ethical decision-making and supporting the development of a strong ethics capacity within the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct and facilitate ethics consultations to address complex ethical issues and promote ethical decision-making.
  • Provide ethics support and guidance to clinical teams, including attending ethics huddles, rounds, and patient care meetings.
  • Develop and deliver education and training programs to build capacity and advance ethical decision-making within the organization.
  • Collaborate with other ethics professionals and stakeholders to meet departmental objectives and advance the field of bioethics.
  • Represent Fraser Health at various events and forums, including educational conferences and professional associations.
Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in ethics, philosophy, or moral theology, or a terminal degree in a vocation related to bioethics.
  • Master's level degree in bioethics or a related field.
  • Documented experience providing clinical ethics consultation in a complex healthcare environment.
Competencies
  • Leadership practices of the Fraser Health Leadership Framework, including clear, caring, and courageous leadership.
  • High-quality understanding of principle-based, contextual, and other contemporary ethics approaches.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to consult, plan, implement, organize, and problem-solve.
  • Ability to collaborate and deal with senior staff regarding sensitive and confidential issues.
