Adult Guardianship Program Coordinator

The Adult Guardianship Worker plays a vital role in administering the financial affairs of clients who require assistance due to physical or mental constraints. This position involves receiving and managing pension incomes from the Income Security Program and Canadian Pension Program, and enhancing these incomes through applications to SAFER and other supplements. The Adult Guardianship Worker must follow instructions from clients who have signed a Power of Attorney with the Adult Guardianship Program, or through an enduring clause.
Responsibilities- Grade 12, a Diploma in Accounting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Non-violent Crisis Intervention training is preferred.
- Registration with the Financial Institution Commission of BC is required.
- Effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and multitask.
- Capacity to work in a stressful and dynamic environment.
- Empathy and ability to work with individuals who have experienced abuse, poverty, grief, loss, oppression, violence, mental health challenges, and/or addictions issues.
- Accuracy in handling cash and finances, including balancing daily cash.
- Ability to budget for limited incomes and ensure clients have savings for future needs.
- Proficiency in reading and responding to legal letters and documents.
- Experience with ACCPAC financial software.
- Ability to work with community workers, social workers, doctors, client family members, bank staff, and government agencies.
- Efficient operation of a computerized database.
- Proven ability to write and read legal documents in English.
- Typing speed of 45 words per minute.
