Senior Oncology Nurse

Required Education and Experience: Must be a graduate from an accredited Registered Nursing program. An active Florida Registered Nurse license is mandatory. Experience in chemotherapy is essential.
Preferred Education and Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in oncology is preferred.
Additional Qualifications: Current BLS certification is required or must be obtained within three months of employment. Current ACLS certification is required or must be obtained within six months of employment. Certification in OCN is expected after completing 1000 hours of work.
Summary/Objective
This role involves overseeing a significant nursing function while delivering nursing care, treatment, and assessment services within the clinic.
Essential Functions
- Assess and manage patient needs effectively.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families.
- Collaborate with researchers, colleagues, and patients.
- Offer on-call support for patients undergoing chemotherapy at home.
- Administer chemotherapy medications, including injections and IVs; accurately document medications prescribed by the attending physician as per specialty requirements; adhere to established protocols.
- Exhibit accountability and self-responsibility in professional practice.
- Facilitate patient flow to ensure the efficiency of the chemotherapy department.
- Recognize and appropriately respond to emergency situations.
- Maintain current CPR certification.
- Stay informed on new policies and procedures, as well as Clinical Services Notes newsletters.
- Participate in mandatory safety training programs and educational sessions.
- Comply with nursing policies and procedures when documenting patient information.
