Job Description

As a Senior Manager, Commercial Strategy and Events, you will play a pivotal role in driving the commercial organization's growth strategy and business processes. Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer, you will be responsible for managing the events team, coordinating with business unit executives, and supporting the execution of strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Commercial Strategy: Work with the team to manage the overall commercial strategy, including the growth pipeline, IT projects, customer-improvement activities, and internal continuous improvement projects.
  • Commercial Events and Communications: Oversee the customer events and experiences team, manage their budget, and work with business unit executives to identify and select the best platforms and conferences to support CN's goals.
  • Project Management: Serve as a resource to support the application of sound project and change management principles around strategic initiatives.
  • Representation: Represent the commercial group in functional townhall and collaboration workshops to ensure integrated planning and stakeholder involvement.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of previous management experience
  • Experience interacting with executives
  • Experience in communication and marketing campaign development, execution, and measurement
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Operations Management
  • Change Management (PROSCI) certification or Project Management (PMP) certification
Technical Skills/Knowledge:
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP), Business Warehouse (BW), Microsoft (MS) Office including MS Project, and CN internal Systems
  • Knowledge of railroad operations and back-office process is desirable
  • Strong understanding of technology trends, change management, and project management strategies
