Océan is seeking a skilled and dedicated Tugboat Deckhand to join our team in Hamilton, Ontario.
In this role, you will play a vital part in the safe and efficient operation of our tugboats. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, from maneuvering the vessel during berthing and unberthing operations to ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of the tugboat.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Participate actively in all tugboat maneuvers.
- Ensure secure berthing and unberthing procedures using cables.
- Maintain the cleanliness and order of accommodations and decks.
- Manage the bridge and oversee the safe transfer of personnel.
- Connect to ground power, including outlets and circuit breakers.
- Perform cleaning, painting, and other essential maintenance tasks on the tugboat.
- Assist the Chief Engineer with various duties.
- Actively contribute to the Health, Safety, and Environment Management System.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Possesses STCW Basic Safety Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats certificates.
- Holds a Restricted Radiotelephone Operator's Certificate-Maritime (ROC-M).
- Has a valid medical certificate issued by Transport Canada.
- Ideally, possesses a Bridge Watch Rating certificate of competency.
- May hold a Marine Basic First Aid certificate.
- Has 3 to 5 years of experience as a Deckhand.
- Holds a valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Demonstrates strong autonomy and initiative.
