The District of North Vancouver is seeking a skilled Truck Driver - Waste Management Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Solid Waste Department, you will be responsible for operating a tandem axle rear load garbage packer and performing various tasks related to waste collection and management.
Key Responsibilities- Operate a tandem axle rear load garbage packer and perform swamping duties to collect garbage and yard trimmings/organics
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and pre and post trip inspections
- Complete daily work records and enforce regulations related to waste collection
- Interact with the public and provide information on waste management practices
- Perform other duties as required, including streetscape waste collection and cart repair
- Valid Class 3 BC Driver's License with Air Brake Endorsement
- Completion of Grade 10 and relevant truck driving experience
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in a physically demanding environment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Competitive hourly rate
- 12% in lieu of all benefits increasing to 16% following the completion of 1600hrs of work
