The Mental Health & Addiction Nurses in District School Boards Program plays a crucial role in enhancing services and support for children and youth facing mental health and addiction challenges. This initiative is part of Ontario's Comprehensive Mental Health and Addictions Strategy, aimed at empowering district school boards to effectively identify and address student mental health and addiction concerns.
As an Ontario Health atHome RN, your responsibilities will include: offering vital health-related guidance and support to educators within educational institutions, and formulating individualized care plans for clients with mental health and addiction requirements, in partnership with mental health professionals when necessary. Additionally, you will contribute insights regarding the mental health and addiction needs of students.

Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (BScN or diploma)
- Case Management Certificate is advantageous
- A minimum of two (2) years of relevant nursing experience
- Familiarity with the mental health and addiction service landscape for children and youth
- Direct clinical experience in delivering mental health and/or addiction services to children and youth
- Comprehensive understanding of healthcare legislation and practices
- Advanced assessment and diagnostic reasoning capabilities
- Ability to function both independently and interdependently
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Effective organizational and planning abilities
- Proficiency in computerized information systems
- French language skills are a plus
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
- Ability to maintain consistent verbal and written communication with colleagues and external stakeholders
- Competence in communicating with clients, their families, and other relevant parties to ensure adherence to care plan directives
- Awareness of cultural diversity and the ability to handle confidential matters discreetly and sensitively
- Compliance with a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy is required for employment.
- Proficient in a Windows operating environment
- Proven ability to accurately complete necessary documentation, reports, and forms
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with diverse patient populations, including multicultural, homeless, palliative, acquired brain injury (ABI), mental health, geriatrics, and pediatrics
- Experience in case management or recent related community involvement
- Proficiency in French or another second language
