As a vital member of the Childcare team at St-Laurent Academy, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Engaging with and facilitating educational activities for children in our "infant", "toddler", and "preschool" classrooms, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Adhering to daily routines with precision, which includes preparing and serving nutritious snacks and meals in collaboration with the kitchen staff, overseeing hygiene practices, supervising play and rest periods, and managing safe arrival and departure of children.
  • Maintaining open communication with parents, including welcoming families each morning and ensuring a smooth transition at pick-up times.
  • Collaborating daily with the daycare supervisor, fellow educators, and the school Nurse, as well as occasionally with the Elementary School staff.
  • Implementing essential safety measures, including completing daily checklists and safety protocols.
  • Supervising and attending student excursions to various local attractions.

To qualify for this position, candidates must:
  • Possess a valid Early Childhood Educator (ECE) or Educational Assistant (EA) certification, or have equivalent experience with young children.
  • Hold a current "Standard First Aid & CPR C" certification.
  • Provide a clear Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector screening.
  • Submit proof of a negative TB (Tuberculosis) Test.
  • Have prior experience in early childhood educational settings.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Be bilingual in French and English.
  • Demonstrate a passion for fostering the social, emotional, behavioral, and academic growth of each child while ensuring a fun learning atmosphere.
  • Be dependable and trustworthy.
  • Be available to work an 8-hour shift within the flexible schedule of 7:00am - 5:30pm.
  • Commit to working with the team from Monday to Friday.
