We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our Acute Assessment Program at Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care. As a key member of our inter-professional team, you will provide support in the provision of physical health and psychiatric services under the direct or indirect supervision of a physician.
Key Responsibilities- Assess patient condition and needs based on interviews, interaction, and direct observation, contributing to the development and implementation of therapeutic patient care and transition plans.
- Develop therapeutic rapport with patients and families, providing education and documentation of patient care and compliance with quality standards.
- Order and conduct preliminary review of results of investigations, contributing to a safe and therapeutic environment through adherence to program-wide policies and procedures.
- Contribute directly to quality improvement initiatives, both at the unit level and organizationally.
- Provide follow-up monitoring, educate patients and families about physician-recommended medications and psychotherapies, and communicate within the care team.
- Graduate of an accredited physician assistant training program.
- Certified, or eligible to be certified, through the PACCC.
- Previous experience in acute care medicine and mental health an asset.
- Experience with patient safety, including emergency patient care procedures.
- Proficiency in English language; working knowledge of French language an asset.
