Clinical Medical Director

The Medical Director - Port Alberni, West Coast is a key leadership position that plays a crucial role in ensuring high-quality services across Island Health sites.
As a co-leader, this position works collaboratively with others to drive continuous quality improvement of service delivery.
This role reports to both an Executive Medical Director and an Executive Director, requiring strong leadership and collaboration skills.
Leadership:Co-leads and oversees activities to ensure efficient, effective, and integrated program service delivery; Links with Departmental Medical Leaders to address physician governance, professional medical practice issues, and quality improvement initiatives.
Operations & Quality:Establishes processes and structures to engage physicians and staff in continuous quality improvement of service delivery; Monitors program budget and performance jointly with co-leader, making course corrections as needed; Ensures investigation and resolution of program-related Patient Safety Learning System and Patient Care Quality Office events.
Change Management:Co-develops and implements change management plans to engage and support physicians and staff through change; Oversees activities that advance technology and data use to improve service delivery using Electronic Health Records (EHR) in collaboration with the Quality Systems team.
Assesses, monitors, and anticipates program resource needs, working with medical leaders and administrative leaders to prioritize these needs within available resources.
