Work Schedule: Sunday to Wednesday, Day Shift - 6:45 AM to 4:38 PM

Position Overview:

Under the guidance of the Director of the Cottage/Transitional Housing Program, this role is dedicated to upholding the mission, philosophy, policies, and objectives of Coast Mental Health. The incumbent will be responsible for the effective execution of home programs, which include culinary activities, housekeeping, and maintenance tasks. This will be achieved by actively engaging residents in daily living skills activities and administering medications, all while adhering to the principles of psychosocial rehabilitation. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in identifying and assisting residents in accessing community resources and services.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Community Social Service
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's License
  • Ability to obtain necessary certifications upon hire, including First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Clearance, TB Clearance (within the last six months), and FoodSafe

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical capability to perform job-related duties.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively.
  • Competence in operating relevant equipment.
  • Capacity to build and maintain rapport with clients.
  • Adept at observing and recognizing changes in client behavior.
  • Willingness to understand and engage with adults deemed not criminally responsible due to mental disorders.
  • Familiarity with the criminal justice system.
  • Experience in life skills training.
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Demonstrated capability to facilitate group activities.
