The Medical Executive Director will provide strategic leadership and direction to our medical programs and services, ensuring that they are aligned with our organizational goals and objectives. This includes developing and implementing operational and clinical strategies, programs, and initiatives that improve patient outcomes and enhance the overall quality of care.

You will work closely with our Vice President of Medicine and other senior leaders to drive innovation and improvement in service delivery models, achieving agreed-upon outcomes and performance goals. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring that our health services and activities are aligned with our objectives and that we are delivering effective, quality, and safe patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide strategic business advice and medical expertise to our Executive Team, Vice President of Medicine, and Senior Leadership Team.
  2. Develop and implement operational and clinical strategies, programs, and initiatives to improve patient outcomes and enhance the quality of care.
  3. Lead the collaboration and cooperation between zones to deliver effective, quality, and safe patient-centered care.
  4. Ensure that all health services and activities are aligned with our objectives.
  5. Drive improvement and innovation in service delivery models, achieving agreed-upon outcomes and performance goals.
  6. Direct the implementation of service strategies congruent with our quality and sustainability plan.
  7. Enable effective integration of zone programs and services with sites and services.
  8. In partnership with Financial Services, develop a multi-million dollar operating budget and allocate fiscal resources.
  9. In partnership with Quality and System Performance, establish effective performance management within the zone to support accountability for zone performance improvement.
  10. Develop and maintain a strong patient/client-centered focus and culture, representing the zone to the external market and internally through community relations and marketing.
  11. Lead or participate on all pertinent medical, administrative, and Board committees.
  12. Promote and support medical and dental learner placements within the zone, ensuring the educational experience of residents and learners is pursuant to the requirements identified and outlined through agreements with the University and any applicable Collective Agreements.

About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Medical Executive Director with a strong track record of leadership and innovation in healthcare. You will have a Medical Doctorate (with or without specialty) and evidence of past and ongoing leadership training. A CCPE/MBA/CHE is preferred. You will have 5-7 years' experience at a senior leadership level involved in the planning and delivering medical programs and services provided throughout several locations with multiple partners and stakeholders; provincial committee experience.

You will have a successful record of achievement as a leader, including extensive experience in improvement and innovation in service delivery in a large and diverse range of health functions. You will have exceptional communications and presentation skills, both verbal and written, with tact and diplomacy, and the ability to navigate complex relationships with multiple stakeholders to achieve objectives.
