The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Tax Accounting Specialist to join our Taxation practice area. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing tax services to our clients, including personal tax returns, corporate tax returns, and other tax-related work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review personal tax returns, terminal returns, trust returns, and corporate tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax regulations.
  • Correspond with clients and their advisors to address tax-related queries and provide expert advice.
  • Review tax and GST assessments from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and complete tax research and basic accounting projects.
  • Participate in weekly tax update meetings and assist with other firm/client projects as required.
  • Develop a general knowledge of the farming industry and prepare various returns for farm programs and personal farm tax returns.

Requirements

  • Accounting diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Previous related tax experience is an asset.
  • Experience working in public practice is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience working in accounting software such as CaseWare, Tax Prep, QuickBooks, and Simply Accounting.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel.
