Financial Accounting Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accounting Analyst to join our team at FortisBC. As a key contributor to our month-end close process, you will ensure accurate financial results are completed timely and accurately.
As a Financial Accounting Analyst, you will work closely with the financial accounting management team to analyze various types of financial data, identify areas for process improvements, and implement changes to streamline workflow.
You will be responsible for conducting monthly financial analyses, working with accounting subject matters such as accounts receivable, revenue, deferrals, and capital assets, and collaborating with a team to identify areas for process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:- Contribute to the department's key deliverable of achieving a timely and accurate monthly close process and providing financial results to stakeholders.
- Conduct monthly financial analyses by gaining an understanding of the nature of our operations.
- Work with accounting subject matters such as accounts receivable, revenue, deferrals, and capital assets.
- Collaborate with a team to identify areas for process improvements and implement changes to streamline workflow.
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting or a related discipline from an accredited university, plus completion of the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) program and three years of recent and relevant experience.
- Strong organizational skills and time management to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional communication skills and attention to detail to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
