Job Summary:
The Department of Classics at the University of Toronto invites applications for two full-time tenure stream positions in the general area of Ancient Greek Literature. The field is otherwise completely open, except that we hope to make one appointment in Archaic literature. Up to two appointments may be made at the rank of Associate Professor with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct rigorous and innovative research at the highest international level, backed by a track record commensurate with career stage.
- Teach, at all undergraduate levels, translation-based courses in ancient Greek literature, and language courses in ancient Greek.
- Develop and implement a program of research and teaching that complements and adds value to existing Departmental strengths.
- Contribute to the Department's commitment to improving equity, diversity, and inclusion within the subject.
Requirements:
- PhD degree in Classics or a related area.
- Clearly demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to improving equity, diversity, and inclusion within the subject.
