As a vital member of the Maintenance division, the Operations Technician reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor. This role is essential for executing repairs and diagnosing issues related to mechanical and associated equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts repairs necessitating comprehensive knowledge of pumps, valves, electric and pneumatic actuators, motors, gears, hydraulics, mechanical drives, speed reducers, and other pertinent equipment.
  • Engages in troubleshooting various types of mechanical and related equipment, providing recommendations for repair or replacement actions.
  • Interprets Operating & Maintenance (O&M) manuals, diagrams, schematics, and prints, suggesting necessary revisions.
  • Organizes and collaborates with external contractors during maintenance or repair activities, ensuring completed work adheres to Regional Standards and industry best practices.
  • Responds to urgent equipment failures, diagnosing problems, identifying required resources, and coordinating repairs with contractors as needed.
  • Offers support to the Region's Special Project Group to facilitate project implementation and the commissioning of equipment.
  • Fosters positive working relationships with colleagues, customers, and contractors through effective collaboration, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Utilizes a computerized maintenance management system to document all work performed, source equipment parts, maintain equipment history, and update work status as necessary.
  • Performs welding, pipe fitting, and rigging as required, along with other assigned duties.
  • Ensures compliance with Safety Standards and all applicable codes.
  • Adheres to the Quality Management System requirements, including IATF 16949 and ISO 14001.
  • Complies with Johnson Electric's policies and procedures.
  • Undertakes additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma with a valid Certificate of Apprenticeship.
  • Must hold a valid Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) in good standing with the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities.
  • Preferred three to five (3-5) years of practical experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, EAM Computerized Maintenance Management System, and other computerized systems is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of safety practices as mandated under the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Ability to comprehend equipment manufacturers' schematic drawings to verify equipment installation and repairs, interpret design drawings, and analyze operating and maintenance (O&M) manuals effectively.

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to noise, heights, confined spaces, poor lighting conditions, and materials associated with the manufacturing of powered metal components.
  • Required to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding, able to crouch for extended periods, push, pull, lift, and maneuver tools, materials, and equipment throughout the facility.
  • Willingness to work overtime is essential.
  • Involves a continental 12-hour shift rotation of days and nights.
