Job Title: Safety Specialist

Trillium Health Partners is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Specialist to join its People Safety department. As a key member of the team, you will play a critical role in promoting a safe, healthy, and respectful environment for individuals within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement occupational health and safety programs to ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments to identify potential workplace hazards and develop control measures to mitigate risks.
  • Investigate incidents and near-miss events to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide education, advice, and consultation to leadership and employees on health and safety matters.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to promote health and safety awareness and best practices.
  • Monitor and analyze trends to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance health and safety performance.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to promote health and safety initiatives and best practices.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline, such as occupational health and safety, environmental health, or a related field.
  • Minimum three years of experience in occupational health and safety, including management of health and safety programs.
  • Current certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) is an asset.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, and Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Strong relationship management skills, with experience in partnering, influencing, coaching, and building credibility with leadership, employees, and external partners.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop and deliver projects, tools, and resources with superior attention to detail and proficiency in technical writing.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Highly computer literate, with proficiency in the Microsoft suite of applications.
