Mercury Hampton is seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Glazing Project Estimator within our expanding organization in the curtain wall industry.

Role Overview

As a Glazing Project Estimator, you will be integral to our estimating team, responsible for preparing material and quantity take-offs from architectural plans while overseeing the estimating operations. This position requires you to generate high-value bids, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and identify new business opportunities. Your proficiency in building envelope estimation will be crucial for ensuring accurate and competitive project pricing.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct detailed material and quantity take-offs from architectural plans.
  2. Generate product breakdowns for cost analysis and manage all expenses related to submitted estimates.
  3. Work closely with the Sales Manager to create bids for architectural glass and glazing projects.
  4. Analyze project specifications, addendums, and scopes of work to provide precise lump sum tender prices.
  5. Perform product take-offs from drawings to ascertain required materials and quantities.
  6. Solicit material quotes and compile estimates for glazing projects.
  7. Adjust estimates based on post-tender addendums.
  8. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure high-quality quotation documents and competitive pricing.
  9. Collect and monitor subcontractor bids, negotiating budgets as necessary.
  10. Maintain organized job files and project digital records.
  11. Participate in project, client, and senior management meetings as needed.
  12. Engage in pre-tender site meetings to prepare accurate estimates.
  13. Monitor project progress, notifying management of any delays or issues.
  14. Process submittals and project approvals efficiently.
  15. Establish and nurture relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  16. Implement continuous improvement practices in daily operations.
Qualifications
  1. Proven experience with unitized curtain wall and stick curtain wall systems is essential.
  2. Familiarity with local brands such as Kawneer, Alumacor, and Oldcastle is preferred.
  3. A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial glazing and large-scale construction projects.
  4. Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Estimating Software.
  6. Ability to interpret and understand architectural drawings and specifications.
  7. A college or postgraduate degree in civil engineering, construction engineering technology, architectural technology, or a related field.
  8. A valid driver's license and willingness to work additional hours to meet project deadlines.
