Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Labourer to join our team at Doman Building Materials Group Ltd. in Prince Albert, SK. As a Labourer, you will play a crucial role in the wood processing operation, working closely with our Shift Supervisor to ensure the efficient production of wood products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Unload, Load, and Separate Wood Products: Safely maneuver wood pieces into industrial machines during production.
  • Operate Automatic Feeding Devices: Guide wood against saws and operate automatic feeding devices to guide cuts.
  • Inspect and Measure Wood Pieces: Mark wood pieces for cuts and verify the accuracy of cuts.
  • Count, Sort, and Stack Finished Wood Pieces: Ensure accurate counting, sorting, and stacking of finished wood products.
  • Dispose of Trash and Waste Materials: Safely dispose of trash and waste materials as required.
  • Perform Housekeeping Duties: Maintain a safe and clean work environment by performing regular housekeeping duties.
Requirements
  • Safety-Conscious Attitude: Demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Accurate Counting and Identification: Accurately count and identify various lumber products.
  • Good Hand-Eye Coordination: Maintain concentration and focus for long periods.
  • Lifting and Bending: Lift up to 50 pounds (23 kilograms) and perform bending, lifting, and reaching during the course of a shift.
  • Communication Skills: Speak, read, and write English fluently.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Wear hand, eye, and ear protection as required.
  • Desirable Experience: Previous experience working in wood processing or a lumber yard is an asset.
Working Conditions
  • Outdoor Work: Work in outdoor conditions year-round, including extreme temperatures.
  • Noisy and Dusty Environment: Work in a noisy and dusty environment with potential exposure to machinery hazards.
  • Physical Demands: Stand, bend, and lift on a daily basis, requiring strength and stamina.
Education and Certifications
  • High School Graduation: High school graduation or equivalent is an asset.
Benefits
  • Hourly Rate: $21 per hour.
