Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will play a crucial part in advancing the Government of Alberta's cybersecurity initiatives, reinforcing the Information Security Management Directives (ISMD), and ensuring that risk management and security protocols are integrated into all IT operations. Your primary focus will be on contributing to and/or overseeing the formulation and execution of cybersecurity controls, policy frameworks, and compliance assessments.

Reporting directly to the Director of Cybersecurity Governance Risk and Compliance, you will oversee the processes, technologies, roles, and tools employed to evaluate cybersecurity practices, roles, and safeguards designed to protect technology and information assets for the Government of Alberta.

Your duties will encompass (but are not limited to):

  • Providing mentorship and guidance to team members.
  • Leading or coordinating various projects or initiatives.
  • Supporting the delivery of the Cybersecurity Program for the Government of Alberta.
  • Offering cybersecurity expertise to stakeholders.
  • Engaging in projects as a cybersecurity subject matter expert.
  • Assisting in the identification of cybersecurity needs and the development of strategies and solutions to address these needs.
  • Presenting cybersecurity controls, frameworks, and policy instruments to executive leadership.

To excel in this position, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to foster productive relationships within the Ministry, Government of Alberta, and with collaborating ministries, agencies, and key stakeholders.
  • The capability to lead and manage a variety of projects and processes, delivering high-quality outcomes within established timelines.
  • Proficiency in leading and managing personnel/resources to meet deadlines and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • The ability to analyze complex, competing issues and synthesize findings to recommend actionable solutions.
  • Strong negotiation, mediation, facilitation, and consultation skills to navigate diverse stakeholder perspectives.
  • Effective influencing, coaching, and conflict resolution abilities.
