At First Student, our Monitors/Aides exemplify our unwavering dedication to safety and exceptional service. The role of the Monitor/Aide encompasses overseeing operations, managing daily activities, and supporting drivers in the secure execution of their routes.

Key Responsibilities of the Monitor/Aide:
  • Familiarizes with the route and stays vigilant to ensure the safety of passengers during transit
  • Reports behavioral issues and the conditions at various stops to the driver
  • Assists in conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle
  • Helps students during the boarding and disembarking process
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with school staff, students, and parents
  • Participates in all safety and training sessions
  • Facilitates emergency evacuations from the bus, including utilizing emergency exits
  • Operates service doors and navigates steps multiple times throughout the day
  • Maintains cleanliness within the bus
  • Supports the driver in safely maneuvering the vehicle in reverse when necessary
