Position Overview:
The Anti-Racism Advisor plays a pivotal role within the Anti-Racism and Cultural Diversity Office, operating under the guidance of the Director. This position is essential for fostering an inclusive environment by aiding in the formulation, execution, and management of the University's initiatives aimed at promoting anti-racism and cultural diversity across all campuses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement ongoing educational programs addressing discrimination and harassment, while promoting anti-racism and cultural diversity.
- Collaborate with student organizations and various faculty and staff units to create and execute outreach initiatives focused on equity and cultural diversity.
- Serve as a confidential resource for students, faculty, and staff, providing guidance on available services, policies, and support options.
- Assist in the analysis and application of Human Rights policies, ensuring effective implementation.
- Contribute to the development of educational curricula on anti-discrimination and harassment, working closely with Divisional Equity Directors.
- Monitor emerging issues related to equity, diversity, and inclusion, providing timely briefings to the Director.
- Identify and implement improvements in office procedures to enhance efficiency.
This role demands a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality, requiring the incumbent to maintain a professional demeanor while engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, including senior administrators, faculty, staff, and community members.
Qualifications:
Education: A graduate degree in a relevant field, with a focus on human rights, diversity, equity, and inclusion, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: A minimum of four years in program development and delivery, with a strong understanding of anti-racism frameworks. Experience in curriculum design, group facilitation, and project management within a post-secondary context is preferred.
Skills: Exceptional writing, research, and communication abilities; proficiency in social media; and a demonstrated capacity to work effectively with diverse groups. Strong organizational skills and the ability to innovate and work independently are essential.
The successful candidate will possess a thorough understanding of contemporary equity, diversity, and inclusion concepts, alongside the ability to critically assess and communicate these issues to varied audiences.
