Gardewine, a leading transportation company with a strong history dating back to the 1950s, is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Trailer/Tractor Mechanic to join our team at our Sudbury Terminal.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Heavy Duty Trailer/Tractor Mechanic to perform routine maintenance on our Tractor fleet. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventative maintenance checks and servicing on Tractors
  • Complete electrical, interior, air brake system, tire, and body repairs as required
  • Facilitate safety inspections and identify potential hazards
  • Repair or replace equipment as necessary
  • Assess equipment to determine if they require repair or maintenance
  • Recognize and report faults or malfunctions on all company equipment
  • Coordinate with other maintenance staff and the terminal to determine priorities for equipment repair
Requirements:
  • Red Seal certification or an apprentice at any level, or willingness to enroll in an apprenticeship program
  • High school diploma with a minimum of 2 years' working experience
  • Basic set of hand tools required
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong work ethic, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with the latest vehicle diagnostic equipment
  • Experience in preventative maintenance, including electrical, interior, air brake, tire, and body maintenance
