About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Property Appraiser, Major Loss Specialist to join our team at Intact Financial Corporation.

As a key member of our Property Claims Team, you will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections of large loss sites to determine the cause of damage and provide detailed cost estimates for restoration, repair, or replacement of damaged buildings.

You will also be responsible for auditing estimates and work performed by contractors and restorers to ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.

This role requires strong technical knowledge of building restoration and excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine the cause of loss and detailed costs for the restoration of damaged buildings.
  • Establish rebuilding costs and provide technical support to internal and external claims adjusters.
  • Negotiate restoration cost agreements with contractors and manage customer complaints related to the quality of repairs and restoration.
  • Prepare and present technical training to improve control methods and processes for damaged buildings.
Requirements
  • Five to eight years of experience in property claims appraisal, with at least two years in large losses.
  • Industry experience in restoration is considered an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of Xactimate estimating software.
  • Technical and practical knowledge of building restoration.
  • Diploma in building appraisal and/or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer orientation.
  • Good driving record and a valid driver's license.
