Overview of the Role

The Construction Field Leader plays a pivotal role in overseeing on-site project execution, ensuring adherence to project scope, timelines, and budgetary constraints. This position encompasses comprehensive pre-mobilization planning for crews, equipment, and site evaluations. A fundamental aspect of this role involves supervising work teams and third-party contractors to guarantee that safety, quality, and efficiency benchmarks are consistently achieved. Collaboration with Operations Managers and Project Managers is essential to maintain project schedules and allocate the necessary resources effectively.

Additionally, the Construction Field Leader is tasked with fostering and sustaining robust client relationships at the project site. This includes managing client communications, providing progress updates, and handling change orders. A significant focus of this role is optimizing the installation schedule to ensure seamless transitions between projects while minimizing downtime. Furthermore, it is crucial to ensure that installation equipment is well-maintained and promptly repaired to meet installation timelines. The Construction Field Leader also prioritizes maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor construction teams to enhance performance and development.
  • Advocate for the company's safety and quality initiatives.
  • Provide constructive feedback to the Construction Manager and Project Manager to collaboratively address performance challenges.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for team members.
  • Collaborate with the Scheduler and Project Manager to facilitate on-site scheduling.
  • Coordinate with Project Manager and Shipping to manage material deliveries.
  • Deliver daily progress reports to clients and project management, including updates on supervisors' workbooks and downtime documentation.
  • Supervise contract employees to ensure accountability in their roles on installation projects.
  • Assist in organizing travel and accommodation for installation crews.
  • Advise the sales team on project installation cost estimates during the estimating phase.
  • Work with the Scheduler to identify gaps in the installation schedule for potential project opportunities.
  • Optimize resource management to minimize downtime and costs.
  • Actively seek cost-saving measures and innovative solutions to enhance project efficiency.
  • Ensure installation crew members are fit for duty, both mentally and physically.
  • Collaborate with administrative staff to ensure all crew training requirements are met.
  • Uphold the highest standards for materials, equipment, and installation practices.
  • Proactively engage with clients to secure additional work opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental strategic plans.
  • Promote good housekeeping practices to prevent accidents and property damage.

Qualifications and Experience

Required:

  • 3-5 years of experience in an operational capacity within the construction sector, preferably in installation.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in the construction industry.
  • Familiarity with the helical pile sector, including relevant products and installation tools.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific equipment (e.g., down-hole hammers, drill rods, bits).
  • Training or experience in performance and communication.
  • Basic mechanical skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience or training in team building and leadership.
