We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Head Teacher to join our team at Prophet River First Nation. As a key member of our instructional team, you will be responsible for providing instructional services and support to students, ensuring effective instructional programs, and promoting a healthy, safe, and orderly classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities- Instructional Leadership: Provide instructional services and support to students, including teaching, planning, and delivering lessons, and assessing student progress.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a tidy and orderly classroom, use classroom management strategies to promote a healthy, safe, and orderly classroom environment, and supervise students during school hours and at in-school events.
- Curriculum Development: Develop and implement curriculum and instructional resources, and stay up-to-date with various technologies for teaching purposes.
- Communication: Communicate regularly with families about students' progress, and build strong relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
- Professional Development: Develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge by attending seminars, conferences, and workshops, and participate in regular staff meetings to support the smooth running and administration of the school.
- Education: Minimum Bachelor of Education Degree and valid B.C. Teaching Certificate and membership in the BC Teacher's Federation.
- Experience: Experience working with an Indigenous community is beneficial, and experience working with individuals with special needs and/or vulnerable students is also beneficial.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, ability to engage with students and parents from diverse backgrounds, and ability to use and keep up-to-date with various technologies for teaching purposes.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of BC curriculum, including Read Well, Reading Mastery, Saxon Math, and/or other direct instruction programs, and an understanding and appreciation of First Nations culture and history.
