Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Prosthetic Technician to join our team at West Park Healthcare Centre. As a key member of our Prosthetics and Orthotics department, you will be responsible for designing and creating prosthetic and orthotic devices that meet the highest standards of quality and functionality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacture a wide range of prosthetic and orthotic devices, ensuring patient safety and high quality by following prescriptions and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Troubleshoot devices that are not working optimally, diagnosing and servicing componentry.
  • Advise clinical staff on fabricating options, utilizing information from manufacturers and comparison studies.
  • Develop and maintain fabricating skills and procedures through continuing education.
  • Instruct and supervise work term students and volunteers, providing guidance and support.
  • Provide backup coverage to Senior Prosthetic and Orthotic Technician during planned absences and as required.
  • Assist in promoting the department as directed by manager.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an OPC recognized technical Prosthetic and Orthotic program is required.
  • OPC registration is preferred.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work with hands.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet production timelines.
  • Evidence of commitment to continuous education.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong technical aptitude.
  • Basic computer skills.
