Position Overview:
The Journeyman Welder will be an integral part of the Fabrication department, reporting directly to the Manufacturing Supervisor. This role involves utilizing various welding techniques and equipment to fabricate high-quality components for Powell Canada products. The successful candidate will also play a crucial role in mentoring and guiding Apprentices in their development.

Our team is dedicated to solving complex challenges while fostering a supportive and professional work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute fit-up weldments according to detailed mechanical engineering drawings and product specifications.
- Set up and operate CC and CV welding machines to ensure optimal quality outcomes.
- Utilize hand tools, clamps, and grinders for the assembly and welding of structural and sheet metal products.
- Conduct routine maintenance on welding equipment, including the replacement of contact tips, nozzles, and other components.
- Provide instruction and mentorship to apprentices, fostering their skill development.
- Perform advanced welding tasks requiring a high level of expertise.
- Operate plasma cutters and other power tools for material cutting.
- Participate actively in ongoing safety training initiatives and promote a culture of safety within the workplace.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas to uphold operational standards.
Qualifications:
- Valid Provincial or Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman's Welder certification is mandatory.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in structural steel fabrication is required.
- CWB Certification is essential for this role.
- Experience with MIG welding is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with overhead crane operations and forklift operation (3000#-20000#) is beneficial.
- Safety certifications, including CSTS 2020, are preferred.
