Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Replenish stock and supplies, maintaining adequate levels and accurate counts.
  • Supply medications to nursing units, adhering to established procedures.
  • Prepare and deliver sterile products, adhering to CSHP and departmental standards.
  • Complete all associated documentation and workload statistics.
  • Inventory control, maintaining accurate counts and levels of stock.
  • Supply nursing units with ward stocks of Narcotic and Controlled drugs, adhering to department procedures.
  • Maintain crash cart supplies, ensuring adequate levels and accessibility.
  • Place purchase orders and arrange return of expired pharmaceuticals.
  • Receive and scan pharmaceuticals, adhering to departmental and hospital procedures.
  • Perform duties adhering to the Pharmacy Drug Budget.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner, ensuring accessibility and efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Successful completion of Pharmacy Technician Program approved by the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • Registered with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Mathematical computation skills required for pharmacy practice.
  • Attention to detail, ensuring accurate dispensing of medications and entering orders.
  • Writing skills, including the ability to synthesize information into clear, concise messages.
  • Verbal communication skills, including the ability to relate well with others and adapt style as needed.
  • Organizational and prioritization skills.

Ability and Behavior:

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships, interacting with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible, and reassuring manner.
  • Demonstrated behavior consistent with the hospital's mission and values statement and The Employee Standards of Performance.
  • Operating knowledge of computers, printers, fax machine, and pharmaceutical-related software.
  • Familiarity with the proper operation of laminar flow hood, analytical balance, syringe pumps, packaging equipment, and other equipment used in drug distribution.
