Dixon Hall is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Full-Time Shelter Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of programs and services intended to build community, enhance housing stability and quality of life for clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives that build community.
- Manage relationships with TCHC, neighbourhood groups, and community members.
- Participate in planning and evaluating provided services and the collection of data.
- Operate effectively under pressure and, when needed, work outside regular office hours.
- Manage the Shelter and Respite Services Team to deliver quality services to applicants, tenants, and communities.
- Ensure Team compliance with all relevant legislation, Company policy, and Procedures.
- Manage the Shelter and Respite Services budget and expenditures.
- Ensure effective performance against key performance indicators and targets.
- Develop and support the implementation of policies, procedures, and strategies.
- Provide leadership in situations affecting the tenant community and coordinate responses.
- Manage complaints and appeals in line with policy.
- Maintain effective record-keeping and administrative systems.
- Ensure effective management and supervision of all staff.
- Participate as a member of the management team to achieve project outcomes.
- Manage and support change in implementing Dixon Hall's housing agenda.
- Develop and implement partnerships with support agencies.
- Participate in Dixon Hall's Performance Development Program.
- Support staff training and professional development.
- Raise concerns about unethical behavior contrary to Agency policies.
- Carry out other management or service development activities as required.
- Directly supervise the staff assigned to the program site.
- Review and approve bi-weekly timesheets, overtime, and requests for time off.
- Work with the Management Team to identify community development goals and implement work plans.
- Identify trends and gaps in service.
- Maintain relevant data and statistics on programs.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary degree in social sciences or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in social services, preferably with individuals facing housing instability.
- Knowledge of social housing, homelessness services, and relevant legislation.
- Experience in staff management and development.
- Fluency in a second language is an asset.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to achieve desired outcomes.
- Strong organizational and administrative ability, proficient in various computer applications.
- Experience with community resources and quality improvement.
- Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of evaluation and research software.
- Must have up-to-date COVID-19 vaccinations approved for use in Canada.
