  • Utilizes the 'hand-surface method' for effective package management.
  • Handles the loading and unloading of packages from various delivery vehicles, trailers, pallets, conveyor systems, and loading grids.
  • Engages in continuous lifting, transporting, pushing, and pulling of packages for extended periods, with the flexibility to work multiple shifts as required.
  • Identifies the correct conveyor system by scanning packages, interpreting labels and charts, verifying numbers, and sorting packages accordingly.
  • Completes additional assigned tasks as necessary.

Key Responsibilities of Parcel Handlers:

Training Role:

  • Instructs fellow Parcel Handlers on effective loading, unloading, palletizing, and scanning methods to promote safe and efficient package movement.

Air Package Handling:

  • Conducts a thorough inspection process for packages to ensure compliance with 'Air Restricted' loading protocols.

Educational Requirements:

No formal education is required.

Experience Requirements:

No prior experience is necessary, although specialized roles may prefer candidates with experience at FedEx Express Corporation:

  • Parcel Handler Trainer: Six months of experience as a Parcel Handler at FedEx Express Corporation is preferred.
  • Air Package Handler: Six months of experience as a Parcel Handler at FedEx Express Corporation is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions related to work tasks and safety protocols.
  • Capable of discerning numbers and information for accurate package sorting.
  • Proficient in using basic tools and equipment such as roller belts, dock carts, handheld scanners, chutes, and unloading devices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Parcel Handlers operating switching equipment must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) record.
  • Parcel Handler Trainer: Capable of training multiple colleagues simultaneously.
  • Air Package Handler: Must complete and maintain required training for FedEx Ground Airlift Consolidation Gateway and government-regulated Indirect Air Carrier (IAC) training, with annual recertification.

Working Environment:

  • Must be prepared to work in varying temperatures, both hot and cold.
  • Will be required to work in a noisy environment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry weights ranging from 5 to 50 pounds.
  • No travel is expected for this position.

Shift Information:

Shifts may vary based on operational needs, with potential start times including early mornings and weekends. Compensation is competitive.
