Job Summary
The Chief Officer is a key member of the ship's crew, reporting directly to the Captain. Key responsibilities include overseeing cargo operations, including loading and unloading, as well as ballast and deballast operations to ensure the ship's stability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage cargo operations, including loading and unloading
- Oversee ballast and deballast operations to ensure ship stability
- Collaborate with the Captain and other crew members to ensure safe and efficient ship operations
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards
Requirements
- STCW II/2 certification
- Chief Officer or higher certification
- Generic SVCEI training
- Passenger Bridge Resource Management training (an asset)
- Valid marine medical certificate
- STCW Firefighting and Advanced Firefighting certifications
- 4 months of experience as Chief Officer and 16 months of experience as Deck Officer on cargo ships
- Proficiency in English (working language)
