Power Systems Consultant I

We are seeking a highly skilled Power Systems Consultant I to join our team at Aspen Technology, Inc. This is a full-time position that will involve working closely with our customers to design, build, configure, troubleshoot, and test the deployment of our systems.
Key Responsibilities- Implementation of control systems at electric utilities to improve their efficiency in operating the modern grid while ensuring contract requirements and specifications are met.
- System Architecture design and configurations for Distribution Management Systems (DMS) and Outage Management Systems (OMS).
- Knowledge, setup, and configuration of databases, including MongoDB and SQL.
- External interfaces design, implementation, and testing, including data flow through APIs and Multispeak.
- Installations, maintenance, and testing of DMS/OMS applications on different environments.
- Performing upgrades/patches on installed applications and verification/optimization of adequate functionality.
- Review of System design documents and providing feedback to customers/team.
- Running tests and debugging/troubleshooting to ensure applications are running as required.
- Work closely with development teams to troubleshoot, prioritize, and test product changes.
- Configure and integrate software components to meet contract requirement specifications and test with customers.
- Train customers on how to operate the systems being delivered.
- Provide technical support to troubleshoot and resolve issues observed on live systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with specializations in Power Systems or equivalent knowledge gained through work experience.
- 3-5 years' experience in the Utility Power Industry or equivalent.
- Basic command line and computer navigation skills, including Windows and Red Hat.
- Experience troubleshooting complex systems and software applications.
- Knowledge of system designs, computer systems, engineering practices, and control systems.
- GIS maintenance, administration, and data entry experience.
- Database and data structure knowledge and experience, including SQL, XML, MongoDB, and GIS.
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and written.
- Proven ability to organize and prioritize work within tight timelines.
- Willingness to travel (25% average).
- Programming and scripting experience is preferred, including C#, Python, and HTML.
- Operations or engineering experience at an electric utility is preferred.
