ABOUT THIS POSITION
Black & McDonald Limited is expanding its operations in the HVAC sector. We are seeking a motivated and skilled HVAC Journeyman Technician to join our team. This role is essential for ensuring the effective functioning and upkeep of various HVAC systems.
The HVAC Journeyman Technician will be tasked with a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Performing maintenance and servicing on chillers, heat pumps, steam boilers, air handling units, and other HVAC equipment.
- Diagnosing issues, executing repairs, and conducting inspections to ensure optimal performance.
- Engaging with clients to guarantee satisfaction with the services provided.
- Monitoring and adjusting HVAC control systems for efficiency.
- Updating and maintaining documentation related to HVAC operations.
- Installing new HVAC systems during renovations or modifications as directed.
- Recommending necessary HVAC supplies and parts.
- Addressing environmental comfort concerns raised by clients.
- Completing preventive maintenance tasks and documenting all work performed.
- Adhering to safety regulations and company policies while performing duties.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
- Completion of an accredited HVAC and/or refrigeration program.
- Must hold a valid Journeyperson certification.
- Possession of a valid G1 gas license is mandatory.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Proficient understanding of building services, including HVAC, refrigeration, and associated control systems.
- Thorough knowledge of building automation systems and HVAC control strategies.
SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail, capable of interpreting technical documents.
- Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on exceeding client expectations.
- A collaborative team member dedicated to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Compliance with all organizational policies and safety standards.
- Physical capability to lift items up to 30 kgs and work at various heights.
Proficient in:
- MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- ERP systems such as JD Edwards or Oracle
- DSI platform
- Willingness to travel as required
- Possession of a valid G driver's license
- Completion of a vulnerable sector police check
