Job Title: Social Planner I

At the City of Vancouver, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Social Planner I to support the implementation of our Healthy City Strategy and Downtown Eastside Plan. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in developing and fostering partnerships to create employment, capacity building, and income generating opportunities for residents from equity denied communities in Vancouver.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations, stakeholders, and local post-secondary institutions to leverage resources and expertise.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform policy and program development, and evaluate the effectiveness of existing initiatives.
  • Prepare and present reports, recommendations, and policy briefs to senior staff and civic departments.
  • Project manage City initiatives and lead complex projects involving multiple internal and external partners.
  • Provide support and advice to community plans, social infrastructure projects, grants, and related initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in social planning, community development, community economic development, geography, social work, or public health.
  • Experience working with people with lived or living experiences of mental health, substance use, and/or poverty.
  • Strong knowledge of the social determinants of health and social policy development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to build positive working relationships and community networks.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member, with strong project management and facilitation skills.
