Housekeeping Assistant

The Housekeeping/Laundry Aide is a vital member of our team at Simcoe County, responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for our residents. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities- Perform general housekeeping and laundry duties, adhering to established procedures and policies.
- Deep clean and disinfect areas or rooms as required, ensuring a high level of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Deliver and distribute personal clothing to resident rooms, maintaining confidentiality and respect for residents' belongings.
- Pick up and deliver exchange linen/personals carts and soiled bins, ensuring efficient and timely service.
- Assist with waste management processes, adhering to County of Simcoe Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Participate in committees as required, contributing to the development of quality management mechanisms and resident safety initiatives.
- Attend in-service education sessions, staff meetings, committee meetings, and workshops, staying up-to-date on industry best practices and County policies.
- Act as a member of the inter-disciplinary team, collaborating with colleagues to achieve shared goals and objectives.
- Effectively utilize electronic systems, maintaining accurate records and reporting as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to resident safety.
- Completion of grade 11 or equivalent.
- Ability to successfully complete a reading and comprehension assessment.
- Knowledge of housekeeping/laundry equipment and processes.
- Basic ability to follow oral and written instructions and to communicate with residents and staff.
- Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening that is less than six (6) months old at time of hire.
- As a condition of employment, candidates are required to submit documented results of TB testing, as per Public Health requirements.
- A minimum of three (3) months commercial experience in a similar or related position.
This position is located in a long-term care facility, exposing the incumbent to illnesses and germs on a daily basis. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on resident safety and well-being.
Exposure to conditions of extreme temperatures, chemicals, bodily fluids, germs, etc. is possible. The successful candidate must be able to work in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to County of Simcoe Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Work schedule to be determined; shifts include days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
