Key Responsibilities- Education and Training: You will be required to complete a Registered Apprenticeship certificate program, which will provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in this role.
- Work Experience: While experience is not required, it is an asset. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, honing your skills and gaining valuable experience in the industry.
As a Cabinetmaking Apprentice, you will be working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Our shop is a non-smoking facility, and you will be expected to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Work Setting- Custom Cabinet Shop: You will be working in a custom cabinet shop, where you will have the opportunity to create high-quality, custom cabinets and furniture.
- Millwork Shop: You will also be working in a millwork shop, where you will be responsible for creating and installing custom millwork, such as trim and molding.
- Commercial: You will have the opportunity to work on commercial projects, creating custom cabinets and millwork for businesses and organizations.
- Custom Work: You will be responsible for creating custom cabinets and furniture for clients, working closely with them to understand their needs and preferences.
- Trim Joints and Fit Parts: You will be responsible for trimming joints and fitting parts and subassemblies together to form complete units and reinforce joints.
- Sand and Finish: You will be responsible for sanding wooden surfaces and applying veneer, stain, or polish to finished products, as well as preparing and applying laminated plastics.
- Cabinets: You will have the opportunity to specialize in the creation of custom cabinets, including design, construction, and installation.
- Doors and Door Frames: You will also have the opportunity to specialize in the creation of custom doors and door frames, including design, construction, and installation.
- Millwork: You will have the opportunity to specialize in the creation of custom millwork, including trim, molding, and other decorative elements.
- Attention to Detail: You will be required to have excellent attention to detail, as you will be working with precision tools and materials.
- Up to 45 kg (100 lbs): You will be required to lift and move heavy objects, up to 45 kg (100 lbs), as part of your duties.
- Steel-Toed Safety Boots: You will be required to wear steel-toed safety boots as part of your personal protective equipment.
- Permanent Work Term: This is a permanent, full-time position, offering a stable and secure work environment.
- Work Language: English is the primary language spoken in the workplace.
- Hours: You will be required to work 44 hours per week, with regular breaks and time off as per company policy.
