We have two exciting opportunities available - one is a one-year contract, while the other is a permanent position.

Our client operates within the realm of location information management, providing essential data products, technology, and professional services that empower clients to leverage location intelligence. Their clientele includes a prestigious array of Fortune 1000 companies and government entities.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with product management to grasp business requirements. Utilizing robust analytical and development skills, they will design, code, and conduct unit testing for key product functionalities within established timelines. Additionally, they will be responsible for the timely completion of development artifacts, including functional specifications and design documents.
  • Development will occur within an architecture that delivers functionality through web services, ensuring high performance in response times and data handling.
  • The candidate may need to engage with customers to provide technical support and to gather detailed requirements.
  • Demonstrating initiative and commitment, the candidate will deliver innovative solutions that offer genuine value to clients and drive significant revenue. A balanced approach to technical sophistication, return on investment, and market readiness will be essential.
  • Flexibility in adapting to evolving business demands and technologies is crucial, including the ability to alternate between rapid proof-of-concept development and rigorous high-quality product development.
  • Some travel may be necessary, primarily within Canada, with the potential for international travel if required.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of strong design and development experience, including some architectural knowledge, with the following technologies:
  • Languages: C#
  • Experience with Enterprise Web Services (SOAP, REST, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft .Net platforms
  • Database expertise in Oracle or SQL Server (development and administration)
  • Operating Systems: Windows
  • Experience in developing enterprise software within a small to medium-sized software company, with a solid understanding of enterprise web services and n-tier application development.

Desirable Additional Skills

  • Experience with Oracle Spatial is particularly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with alternative mapping technologies (GIS, arcGIS, Mapinfo, ESRI) is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of configuration management and automated build management.
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL.

Education and Certification

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
