The Practical Nursing Specialist (PNS) employs the nursing methodology to assist clients/residents/patients in attaining and sustaining their highest level of wellness through a client-centered care model within various healthcare settings including acute, transitional, personal care, primary health care, public health, and home care. The PNS operates within the full scope of practice, engages in continuous education, and upholds competency in alignment with the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud, Professional Standards of Practice, and the Code of Ethics established by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba.
The individual in this role will demonstrate initiative and independent judgment in prioritizing tasks, determining methodologies, and addressing atypical situations. The position is performed in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Southern Health-Santé Sud.
Required Qualifications- Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification applicable to various healthcare settings
- Understanding of Professional Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics
- Proven ability to cultivate a collaborative interdisciplinary environment that enhances service quality and staff empowerment
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive working relationships
- Effective conflict resolution capabilities
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
- Analytical and inquisitive approach to problem-solving with a focus on program enhancement
- Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills
- Excellent organizational abilities and adaptability to meet job demands
- Capability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position effectively
