Job Summary

The Fleet Support/Transition Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support to the CH149 Cormorant fleet, ensuring the aircraft's airworthiness and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role will involve evaluating and implementing technical initiatives, supporting the development of inspection packages, and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure the fleet's maintenance program is efficient and effective.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Support: Provide technical expertise to the CH149 Cormorant fleet, ensuring the aircraft's airworthiness and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Inspection Package Development: Support the development and review of inspection packages for aircraft parts and components, using guidance material from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
  • Technical Initiative Implementation: Evaluate and implement technical initiatives to support the Cormorant fleet, including configuration differences between different aircraft fleets and technical or product improvement initiatives.
  • Corrective Action: Implement and monitor corrective action on Service Difficulty Reporting, Special Inspections, Service Bulletins, and Airworthiness Directives.
  • Flight Safety Occurrences: Monitor Flight Safety Occurrences and track through ATO processes.
  • Technical Advice: Provide technical advice to Main Operating Bases (MOB) on modifications and support the CH149 Aircraft Flight Manual Working Group.
  • Analysis and Business Cases: Provide analysis and business cases in support of modifications and ATO initiatives.
  • Technical Coordination: Coordinate the delivery of technical advice to MOBs on modifications and track design changes on CH149 aircraft from OEM Product Improvement Leaflets, Change Collectors, and Service Bulletins.
  • Communication and Liaison: Conduct effective communications and act as liaison on technical matters with representatives from MOBs, Department of National Defense, aircraft and component OEMs, other Design Support Network elements, and Design Authorities.
  • Process Improvements: Deploy initiatives for general process improvements and increase efficiencies for the maintenance program, including standard repairs, workflow improvements, and standard process improvements.
  • Engineering Reports: Prepare engineering reports, technical memoranda, and technical directions.
  • Configuration Management: Provide support to the configuration management and data management activities of the department.
  • Airworthiness Functions: Perform airworthiness functions as a recognized Design Engineer or Design Technologist when authorized.
Requirements
  • Education: B.Eng. or B.Sc. (Eng.), or CET (Diploma in Engineering Technology), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Registration: Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer, or CET, is desirable.
  • Experience: Two (2) or more years of engineering experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of rotary wing aircraft structures and mechanical systems is an asset.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of airworthiness regulations and standards, and military aircraft modification processes is an asset.
  • Experience in Aircraft Engineering: Experience in an aircraft engineering environment is an asset.
  • Communication Skills: Possess clear and effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Project Management Skills: Good project management skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Sound interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with people at all levels, both within the organization and those in outside agencies.
  • Self-Discipline: Must possess good self-discipline with an ability to work independently when required.
  • Causal Factors: Must possess an ability to logically assimilate information and identify related causal factors, as well as to effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Security Clearance: Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC-Contract Security Program, and Transport Canada RAIC clearance.
