Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team at Ed Sobkowich Greenhouses as a Greenhouse Worker. This is a seasonal position that requires a strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greenhouse Maintenance: Assist in maintaining a clean and organized greenhouse environment, including cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work areas.
  • Plant Care: Water and tend to plants, lawns, and gardens, ensuring optimal growth and health.
  • Soil Preparation: Mix and prepare soils for planting, and assist in pruning trees, shrubs, and plants.
  • Weeding and Pruning: Perform weeding and pruning tasks to maintain plant health and appearance.
  • Task Assistance: Assist in transplanting seedlings or rooted cuttings, and apply fertilizers as needed.
  • Reporting and Communication: Report signs of insect or disease damage to management, and communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure smooth operation of the greenhouse.
Work Environment

The greenhouse environment can be physically demanding, with exposure to wet/damp and hot conditions. The ability to handle heavy loads and stand for extended periods is required.

Requirements
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma is required, but experience is an asset.
  • Physical Capabilities: Ability to handle heavy loads, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Working Conditions

This is a seasonal position, with a variable schedule of 32 to 55 hours per week. The work language is English, and the work term is seasonal.
