Job Title: Education Assistant 2

Join School District #57 (Prince George) in a rewarding role as an Education Assistant 2. This position involves working with students with exceptional needs, providing support and assistance in academic and behavioral domains.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist students with specific drill and practice activities in academic and behavioral domains, under the direction of a teacher.
  • Monitor and assist students during unstructured time, such as recess, lunch hour, and before/after school periods.
  • Perform general health procedures, such as daily hygiene, toileting, feeding, positioning, and transferring.
  • May perform communication procedures and performance skill activities under the direction of specialized staff.
  • Assist students in gaining independence in specific life skills and accompany them to community access activities.
  • Assist with specific drill and practice activities, note-taking, and preparing instructional materials.
  • Participate in conferences with parents and others as directed, observe students, and record their observations.
  • Score objective tests and assignments, keep records, and administer medication to students as assigned.
  • Monitor student behavior, promote cooperative relationships, and report safety concerns to the principal or designate.
Requirements:
  • Grade twelve education.
  • Six college/university level courses related to learning/behavioral issues in children or youth.
  • One year of related experience with children or youth with exceptional needs in a school, hospital, or recognized community agency.
  • Ability to perform child-specific behavior management techniques, operate school equipment, and communicate effectively in the language of instruction.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
