Senior Manager, RESL Portfolio Management

Scotiabank is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager to lead our RESL Portfolio Management team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for driving analyses, oversight, and thought leadership for Mortgage and HELOC Portfolios.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement sensitivity analyses to measure performance benchmarks against environmental trends.
  • Monitor policy changes across the credit life cycle, focusing on credit performance, and provide judicious insights to various teams.
  • Proactively assess RESL portfolio indicators, considering macro-economic and external trends.
  • Assist senior executives in performance trending across portfolios and prepare communication materials.
  • Triangulate internal data analyses with macro-economic and consumer trend reports to identify customer vulnerability.
  • Lead GRM colleagues to improve portfolio monitoring and account management capabilities through new models and frameworks.
  • Contribute to the annual planning process with thought leadership on implications to KPIs and risk-related metrics.
  • Prepare in-depth analyses on key segments within the RESL portfolio, provisioning, and peer trends.
Requirements:
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to create and interpret information/data required to monitor credit portfolio performance.
  • Proficiency in programming and/or database programs (MongoDB, SAS, JAVA, SQL, R, Hadoop, Python).
  • University degree in a relevant STEM discipline or a master's degree in business, statistics, economics, mathematics, management sciences, or analytics.
  • 8-10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Expertise in credit and portfolio management, mortgage underwriting, and credit analytics.
  • Understanding of RESL products, systems, and channels, as well as the markets in which Scotiabank operates.
  • Strong financial skills, deductive reasoning, sound judgment, and creativity.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
