Position Overview: VP, FinanceSegment: Life Science Systems
Reports To: President Life Science Systems
Location: Cambridge, ON preferred – with International Travel Required
As a senior financial executive, you will possess extensive experience in strategic and financial planning & reporting, project management accounting, operations, and business development within global enterprises. You will oversee, direct, and manage the financial and accounting operations of the division, including the formulation and execution of suitable plans, policies, and procedures for financial oversight, reporting, and information systems.
Specific Duties Include:
- Contributing to the formulation of strategic business plans and objectives, sharing responsibility for the overall management of the company as a senior executive team member.
- Leading the finance, controlling, and accounting teams.
- Overseeing all financial functions, including operational accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, controlling, tax planning, and compliance.
- Acting as a strategic financial partner to operations executives, engaging in acquisitions, contract negotiations, financing, and due diligence.
- Monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators such as EBIT, Cash, and RONA.
- Managing monthly division metrics and corporate reporting.
- Ensuring responsible financial management, administration, and control of the division while establishing rigorous financial and operational controls.
- Coordinating the company's financial affairs in accordance with financial principles and regulations.
- Preparing financial analyses of operations to guide management, providing feedback on costs, process efficiencies, and departmental performance; analyzing cash flow, cost controls, and expenses.
- Generating reports that detail the company's financial standing regarding income, expenses, and earnings based on historical, current, and projected operations.
- Developing and implementing financial, accounting, and information systems policies and procedures to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
- Issuing directives to division or department administrators regarding policy, program, or operational changes.
- Managing the receipt, disbursement, and allocation of financial resources.
- Authorizing and signing documents related to financial transactions.
- Overseeing the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Evaluating budget requests to identify potential reductions and allocate operating budgets accordingly.
- Leading the finance team to achieve both short-term and long-term objectives.
- Managing relationships with regulators, consultants, external auditors, and the financial community effectively.
- Negotiating and signing multi-year contracts and commitments.
- Ensuring all business activities adhere to the highest ethical standards and comply with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
- Complying with all health and safety regulations.
Education:
- A post-secondary diploma or degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. A professional financial designation such as CA, CMA, or CGA is mandatory.
Experience:
- At least 8-10 years of senior financial and controlling experience in a manufacturing or financial environment.
- Expertise in project costing systems with practical experience in designing and managing new business systems. A diverse academic and experiential background that allows for a comprehensive understanding of operational and implementation challenges. Experience may include Mergers, Acquisitions, Financial Reporting, Treasury, Regulatory Compliance, Project Management, Supply Chain, Information Technology, Change Management, and Lean Manufacturing.
- Proven track record as a business partner and trusted advisor to senior leadership.
- A visionary leader with a demonstrated ability to cultivate high-performance teams.
- Exceptional communication and analytical skills are essential.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
