Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams and sub-trades to ensure compliance with design drawings, engineering standards, codes, and specifications.
  • Promote a safety-first culture and lead safety meetings and inspections to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Track and report project progress, quality control, resource requirements, and customer or employee relations to the General Superintendent and/or Construction Manager.
  • Oversee job sites and ensure Foreperson compliance with project policies and procedures.
  • Drive quality, efficiency, and productivity of work crews, and direct Foreperson on productivity issues and monitor work performance.
  • Follow project plans and budgets, and ensure Foreperson and crews perform to meet production goals.
  • Understand the scope and sequencing of work, support Foreperson to plan and prioritize work, and redirect crews and equipment to assigned tasks to minimize downtime on sites.
  • Contribute to the development of a construction plan, and supervise multiple crews and subcontractors.
  • Develop construction work methods, plan materials, equipment needs, and work schedule for civil operations.
  • Review daily work schedule and productions with Field Engineers and General Superintendent/CM, and update monthly schedule.
  • Review and understand project plans and specifications to support job set up activities.
  • Local/DOT/MTO/Municipal project experience is preferred.
  • Strong adherence and promotion to OSHA and Project Specific Safety Policies.
  • Document daily field activities and provide technical input to identify and resolve design problems.
  • Determine crew structure for optimal performance on projects.
  • Present production work plan to crews.
  • Works with Quality Staff to coordinate proper inspections and testing for assigned scopes of work.
  • Responsible for ordering and coordinating equipment and materials to complete production on budget and schedule.

Requirements

  • 10 years minimum in a supervisory position within the construction industry: civil, roads, bridges, tunnels, etc.
  • Hard working person with attention to detail.
  • Construction site experience required.
  • Education to include engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training or related experience.
  • Bilingual French and English required.
  • Able to use drafting software to develop construction means and method plans.
  • Good understanding of how to read engineering drawings, documents, and site plans.
  • Experience with and understanding of Engineering tools/equipment, automated systems, remote tooling systems.
  • Excellent Computer skills including proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work the project schedule which may include weekends and/or night shifts.
  • Flexibility to work in both field and office.
